"You obviously couldn’t see this, but my heart just did a backflip"

The Kissing Booth 2 is a 2020 American teen rom-com directed by Vince Marcello. The film is a direct sequel to the 2018 film The Kissing Booth. Based on the books by Beth Reekles by the same name. After a romantic summer together, Noah is off to Harvard, and Elle heads back to high school for her senior year. With college decisions looming over her head, Elle juggles her long distance relationship with Noah, changing relationships with bestie Lee and feelings for her new classmate.

The Kissing Booth 2 is a rom-com with genuinely equal parts of romance and comedy, with neither of the aspects overshadowing each other. Its a feel-good film, which has an impact on you and you can`t stop smiling throughout the film. With loads of cheesy lines and embarrassing scenes, the movie turns out to be better than its prequel. Joey King is the highlight of this film, giving such an effortless performance that the movie turns out to be much better than you expect it to be. The target audience for the film is obviously; teenagers and the movie does justice for its target audience. While most might argue about the unrealistic nature of the storline and probably a bit far fetched scenario`s. But that is what a teen rom-com is all about, not all films need to be as deep and thrilling as Interstellar, Kissing Booth 2 is perfect in the way it is meant to be.

No matter how funny or feel-good it was, some critics unleashed hell on this film, calling the performances in the film weak and beat up, while some went on to calling the lenient rating of the film a pseudo cover for its sexualized storyline. But there`s no such thing, the film has a good to go for anyone above the age of 13 and talking about performances, yes, the film isn`t perfect, it has a lot of loopholes if you go looking for it. Even so, in the true essence of the nature of its film, its absolutely worth watching.

JRating: 7.5/10

JRev: A hilarious, charming and intimate teen drama. Worth Watching!
